Explore Our Accelerometers

An IMU is a combination of multiple accelerometers and gyroscopes axes. Traditionally, an IMU is built with an accelerometer and gyroscopes to measure absolute spatial displacement. In comparison, an INS is a system integrating an IMU combined with a GPS/GNSS/GLONASS chip and computational skill.

Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) and Inertial navigation systems (INS)  are highly complex and technologically advanced products requiring high performing sensors.

They require analytical inputs from accelerometer and gyroscope to track the position and orientation of an object relative to the starting point and velocity of the object. Since there is an ever-increasing demand for accuracy in IMU's and INS's across various application platforms within space, maritime, aerospace and land applications, the sensors within them must be advanced.

InnaLabs® Quartz Servo Accelerometers, Coriolis Vibratory Gyroscopes and experienced engineers enable IMU and INS designers to produce enhanced technology for today's advanced systems.

Why Use InnaLabs® Inertial Sensors

Cost advantage and simple structure

InnaLabs® Innovative Technology

To track the position and orientation of an object relative to the starting point and velocity of the object IMUs and INSs are required.  These systems depend upon the accuracy of inertial sensors to be high-performing. The accelerometers measure the linear acceleration, while the gyroscopes measure the angular velocity.

Accelerometers which are integrated into navigation, guidance or piloting systems are required to meet very demanding performance requirements in terms of accuracy, stability and linearity. Typically these requirements must be achieved under stringent conditions, at sea, on land, in air, and over the full life cycle of the system. Therefore not surprisingly, only two technologies so far have risen to the challenge and have demonstrated the right capabilities: Vibrating Beam Accelerometer technology and Quartz Pendulous Accelerometer technology. Since their roll out in the ‘90s, Quartz Pendulous Accelerometers rapidly became the most widely used accelerometers for high-grade navigation applications and this position remains largely unchallenged to this time.

Miniature Accelerometer for High-Dynamic & Precision Guided Systems

Accelerometers are the primary element of Strapdown Inertial Navigation Systems for measuring non-gravitational accelerations and providing the host vehicle with guidance and Flight-Control parameters in a self-contained manner. Ultimately, the success of the mission highly depends on how well the strap-down systems perform and this falls within the limits that the accelerometers can achieve.
